SALT SPRING ISLAND ACCOMMODATION

THE BEACH HOUSE BED AND BREAKFAST

KAYAKING and BOATING

Salt Spring is deemed by many to be the "Gem of the Pacific" and visitors return on a regular basis just to enjoy their kayaking or boating adventures.

Both kayaking and boating are very popular activities in the tranquil waters of our sheltered harbours.

Many first time kayakers are lured to try their hand with one of our three operators.

And boaters come in almost every size of vessel, from small craft to super-yatchs.

The shelterd waters between Vancouver Island and the mainland, and between the many small islands, are truly extraordinary.

Kayaking:

This is one of the most popular water sports on the island. Many people try kayaking for their first time while visiting the island. It gives them a very memorable experience and for many it is the beginning of a new life long recreational activity. There are numerous kayak rental outlets scattered around the island. Most of the kayak operators offer lessons and guided tours and some have overnight packages as well. Salt Spring Kayaking, located just across the harbour offers “Sunset & Full Moon Harbour Tours” as well as hourly and daily rentals for experienced paddlers.

Jack and Candy Rosen, operate Island Escapades, a kayak service that offers packages originating around Salt Spring. Jack has been kayaking the waters around Vancouver Island for over 20 years and is an outdoor adventurer at heart who loves the opportunities that Salt Spring has to offer. “Salt Spring has beautiful freshwater lakes for those wanting a gentle initiation into this sport,” says Jack. Island Escapades also has a retail outlet in Ganges for all your gear and kayaking needs. There is no shortage of excellent excursions around the islands so if this  activity is one that appeals to you, allows time to spend more than one day venturing out.

And remember, you always have the luxury of returning  to The Beach House to enjoy a relaxing soak in the hot tub to soothe those aching muscles before another  day of adventure in paradise.
