It wasn’t all that long ago that I would get inquiries whether one could buy gas on the island, did they need to bring their groceries with them, do we have banks — for those of you visiting from afar here are a few things you might want to know to help plan your trip.
Postal Service: There is a post office in Fulford, Ganges, at Ganges Village market, and Harbour Market. There are mail boxes scattered all over the island and mail goes off the island every weekday at 5 p.m.
Courier Services: ACE Courier Service, Loomis, and Purolator, all have depot on the island and make numerous trips on and off island on a daily basis.
Salt Spring Courier (division of Salt Spring Freight) provides overnight service to Vancouver.
UPS also services the island by contracting one of our local servers.
Financial Institutions and ATM Machines:

There are also a number of ATMs scattered around the island at various retail outlets: Ganges Village Market, Fulford Inn, etc.
Gas Stations: Although gas prices seem to higher than anywhere else there are 3 gas stations on the island. They are open daily and at least one stays open to 8 p.m.

The Local Licensed Liquor Store, Gasoline Alley
Alcohol beverages are only sold in licensed establishments in Canada. They are not available in any grocery stores.

Country Grocer, 374 Lower Ganges Road (about a mile north of town)
Salt Spring NatureWorks, 116 Lower Ganges Rd. (health food store)
Health Care: See also Healing Arts
Salt Spring is home for Lady Minto Hospital and it has its own emergency helicopter service to a larger hospital in Duncan. There are also a number of walk in clinics if you should have a need for medical treatment while you are here.
Drug Stores and Prescriptions: There are two Pharmasave Drug Stores with full prescription services. (one downtown and one uptown)
